The History of Lockerbie Golf Club

Founded in 1889, Lockerbie Golf Club is a very pleasant parkland course with a Par 67. It is on an elevated setting which affords stunning views over the Annandale Valley and Lake District.

The original nine-hole course was designed by the legendary James Braid and in 1986 a further nine holes were added. The course has several hazards including trees, a pond and contours contributing to an interesting layout.

Lockerbie Golf Club is situated on the east side of Lockerbie, just one mile from the north and south exits of the M74.

A serene water feature comes into play on 3 holes as well as some tricky par 3’s which demands accuracy from the golfer, with uphill and downhill lies creating problems on a number of other holes. The course has a nice balance of varying lengths of holes, with well defined rough wating to catch any wayward shots.

One the whole, Lockerbie is a forgiving course while still presenting some stiff challenges to excite the more adventurous golfer. Lockerbie Golf Club has friendly staff and excellent catering.

In addition the course has great practice facilities with 4 dedicated areas plus 2 practice nets and the Club has an active Junior Section which held 20 coaching sessions in 2025.

All in all a great challenge for all standards of golfer.
